Is full text searching
available?
Yes. We use a full version of sql server instead of
msde, so full text indexing is available by default on all sites.
Can I search subwebs from a parent web?
Unfortunately not.
We are currently looking for a 3rd party webpart to allow this
functionality.
Can I upload my own webparts?
Yes. Go to 'site settings', then 'Site Administration', then
'Manage Web Part Gallery'. Here you can upload your own web part.
Can I upload my own webparts via stsadm?
Yes. You can use stsadm remotely to upload your own
webparts. To download stsadm.exe

Can I have both a public (non-sharepoint) and
secure sharepoint site?
Yes. If you want a public facing (non-sharepoint) web site,
create a file called 'default.htm' via frontpage. This will be
open to everyone. Then place all other 'public files' in a folder
called "home". These files can be asp, html, and asp.net files.

How
often are sites backed up?
Outlook Technologies runs a full
backup of both the web servers and the database every night.
Can I backup my site?
Sure! We highly recommend you take a full backup of your wss site
regularly. You can do this with FrontPage 2003 or a 'dos' utility.
Can I backup my site without
FrontPage?
Yes. You need a dos utility called smigrate.exe.

Can I use
ssl?
Yes. You can secure your web site with ssl.
Certificates are $70 per year and its root is fully trusted by all
browsers.
How do I reset my user's password?
Go to 'Site Settings'. Then go to 'View Information
about site users'.
Can my sharepoint site be accessed by anyone?
Yes. If you do not require users to have uid/pwd to
access the site you can turn on anonymous access. Go to 'site
settings' then 'Site Administration', then 'Manage Anonymous Access'.
Can sub webs have different security?
Yes. You can configure subwebs to have unique security
settings.
